Gear Time Live 7: How to Clean Your Camera Sensor Properly | Gear Time Live Every Thursday at 1pm MT

Kirk Keyes Gear Time, Tutorial, Vlog Leave a Comment

Drew and Brendon teach us how to properly clean a camera sensor and a lens on today’s Gear Time Live. Drew shows the best practices while being sure to not adversely affect your camera sensor.

You can really get the most out of your images with a properly cleaned camera sensor and lens. And you’ll save yourself a lot of frustration and wasted time by NOT having to spot your images!

Drew and Bredon cover the following tools in this episode:

  • Zeiss Lens Cleaning Wipes
  • Dust-Off Compressed Gas Duster
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Giottos Rocket Air Blaster
  • VisibleDust Arctic Butterfly
  • VSGO Camera Full-Frame Sensor Cleaning Swabs
  • Eclipse Optic Cleaner for Sensors and Lenses
  • Aeroclipse Cleaning Fluid for Digital Sensor

Drew also discusses his latest Kickstarter acquisition, the UHL Ultimate Lens Hood. It’s a silicone lens hood for photographing against windows to eliminate reflections from the glass.

Kirk’s Note: When getting Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), get only the 91% or higher IPA. DO NOT get Rubbing Alcohol – even though it has IPA in it, it also has oils added to it and you do not want those oils on your camera gear.

Aaron’s Note: Brendon and Drew started this live feed channelling their love of the 80s and gave an non-Aaron approved homage to the band Devo to start the gear time live…they are awesome nerds but man it was hard to watch. 😀 haha

Kirk’s Second Note: Devo is awesome! I saw them play live in 1982 and 2010 and they were great!
