Escalante Milky Way Workshop Stories
This was our first Escalante Milky Way Workshop of the year and we get AMAZING dark clear skies. Everyone just fell in love with the sights at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Venkat, Cathy and Nicole share their stories from the trip, what went well for them, any challenges and what they wished they knew before coming.
Cathy and Nicole recommend bringing sunscreen, lip balm, and lotion when travelling in the desert. And bring quality hiking shoes or boots. Also bring extra layers of clothing. Even though it’s a desert, it can get cold. And most important, bring water and stay hydrated.
Vencat’s advice, never follow Aaron, always follow Brendon unless you like getting lost…
They discuss how to do Low-Level Lighting for the tree that’s in the giant pothole at Dance Hall Rock.
One suggestion from the group was that sometimes, less if more. So don’t over light your foreground subjects.
Work with the distortion of your super wide angle lens. Sometimes it can make a unique image.
Sometime getting lost allows you to actually see more of an area than you had initially planned.
We stayed at Canyon Country Lodge and had a great experience in this beautiful new hotel here in Escalante and get a perfect headquarters for all our adventures out into the desert. Reserve your next stay in Escalante area at the Canyon Country Lodge and tell them Photog Adventures recommended it!
